Kandidatlistan utökas med 54 nya ämnen
EU har utökat kandidatlistan med ytterligare 54 ämnen, totalt finns nu 138 ämnen upptagna på listan.
Kandidatförteckningen innehåller ämnen som kan ha allvarliga effekter på människors hälsa eller för miljön. De förkortas ofta SVHC vilket betyder Substances of Very High Concern, ämnen som inger mycket allvarliga betänkligheter.
I oktober 2008 publicerade den europeiska kemikaliemyndigheten Echa den första kandidatförteckningen. Identifieringen av ämnen som kan komma att tas upp på listan är en kontinuerlig process, vilket innebär att nya ämnen förs upp successivt. Echas mål är att föra upp nya ämnen på förteckningen två gånger per år.
Vad innebär det att ett ämne finns på listan?
När ett ämne har tagits upp på kandidatförteckningen ställer det vissa krav på företag som tillverkar, importerar eller använder ämnet. Om att ämnet ingår i en vara ska leverantören av varan informera om detta och i vissa fall även gör en anmälan till Echa om i vilken typ av vara ämnet ingår. Konsumenter har på begäran rätt att få motsvarande information kostnadsfritt inom 45 dagar från leverantören av varan.
I ett senare skede kan ämnen som finns upptagna på kandidatförteckningen även föras in i bilaga XIV. Ämnen på bilaga XIV kräver tillstånd för att få släppas ut på marknaden och användas.
