Quality management system for the automotive industry, the standard has been developed by the world's leading vehicle manufacturer and is based on ISO9001. It is a standard for quality management systems for suppliers to the automotive industry. ISO / TS16949 is the standard which replaced QS9000 which was discontinued on 2006-12-31. 

The standard is an improvement tool for planning and effectivization, reducing corrections and complaints, risk-based prevention work instead of corrective measures, minimizing costs, increasing delivery reliability and delivery precision.
