The companies within Hackefors' industrial area initiated a unique environmental collaboration at the time, where the focus was on working with environmental issues within their own company and in the common local environment. The collaboration led to the companies deciding to become environmentally certified in accordance with ISO 14001 and the method that was then chosen was to be group certified.
Altea AB became the coordinator of the work and based on that collaboration, the method for introducing management systems in groups was developed, which later became known as the Hackefors model (see further description). Within the group, they also chose to continue their collaboration by working with quality and implemented an integrated environmental and quality management system, where each company has its own certificate but collaborates in groups.
